Instituting a Family Fitness Time

Physical activity is a very important aspect of everyone’s daily life. Exercise is not always meant for losing weight or getting oneself ripped. Instituting a family fitness time is a great way to remain healthy and at the same time be more with the family.

Nowadays, our kids are also very busy. They need to do after school activities, homework, meet their friends, etc. And same is true for us too. Family time is quite important when we wish to get together. Even though you have a busy schedule, ensuring to have family time is important, and it would be great to make that time give you double benefit!

Out of your busy schedule, getting some time to serve a dual purpose is really a boon in disguise. A great idea would be to get the whole family assembled together for an exercise session rather than you trying to do it alone. This way, you not only get the time to meet each other, but everybody also gets the required physical activity.

Increasing Motivation and Making Everyone Accountable

The major hardship of exercising alone is the lack of accountability or motivation. Sometimes your friends may join you, but they too have families. However, all your family members can motivate each other in your workouts. It altogether becomes a fun family time instead of a chore as it is tackled together.

Benefits of family fitness time:

• Everybody participates together and attains better fitness

• There is positive challenge between each other

• You become more aware of importance of better eating habits

• It can be easily handled within your schedules

There is 24/7 constant support for you. You can even extend your earlier 30 minutes to one hour sessions if you want. Few suggestions for whole-family workouts:

• Try a DVD/video workout session

• Go together on bike riding

• Do weight lifting together

• Enjoy playing video games and allow people to leave in-between

Everybody can choose his/her favorite exercise and introduce it to the whole family members. You can let different person to lead the workout session on different days. Everybody remains involved and gets benefits from the group exercises.

Weight training can be allowed for both young and old. You, your spouse, and your kids can work in unison, and together you can grow stronger. When everybody is involved, then a specific area in the house can be fixed for it. Dumbbells take only a little space and are not very expensive. It is important to keep different weight amounts so that people of different age can use the right weight comfortably.

Don’t have any time for exercise during the busy day? There is chance that other people in your family might also have limited time but need physical exercise.  You can decide to work out together with your family members and fix up a time for exercise to remain healthy. You not only get benefited by being healthier, but you also help your loved ones to do the same, and get the chance of spending the much-needed quality time together.

After a serious health diagnosis, I was faced with adopting sweeping lifestyle changes. I needed to find ways to eat a satisfying diet while eliminating processed junk foods and sugar.

This concept was completely new to me. How could I make long term adjustments to my lifestyle without being plagued by cravings? I researched my options and buried myself in Googled recipes and cookbooks. All things pointed to shifting my diet to include eating mostly raw foods. This diet shift seemed like the way to regain my health and lose weight in the process.

I began to experiment with recipes and found that there was no need to count calories. Whatever I prepared, however much I ate, I lost weight. Plus, by eliminating dairy products and processed junk foods, some of the old nagging ailments with which I had been plagued disappeared. I no longer suffered from constant nasal congestion that had been ever present since childhood. Also, so many of the migraine headaches with which I struggled on a regular basis were gone. I felt great. My brain felt crisper and the brain fog that had been ever-lurking had lifted.

I was delighted with the way I felt. It became easy to lose weight, which had not been the case since I was a teenager! Incredibly, I was not suffering from cravings for those harmful foods that I left behind. This felt good. This was healthy weight loss food at its best.

There was only one problem, the preparation! A plan with only basic raw foods like sprouts, veggies and fruits just was not realistic. In order to prepare the gourmet type of raw food that would make the lifestyle doable, I had to spend hours every day. I just didn’t have the time to devote to preparation each day.

I had to find a way to incorporate the elimination of processed foods, refined white sugar, and refined white carbohydrates into my life. My new diet was very “clean” and it had to stay that way. My health depended on it.

Still searching, I tried a vegan diet. A regime that eliminates all animal products was much easier to incorporate into my lifestyle. Plus, I could cook and prepare quick and easy recipes that are healthy and delicious in a reasonable amount of time.

It became clear that a combination of the raw and vegan lifestyles is the answer for me. Clean food that could be cooked became the answer.

By making these eliminations and replacing them with good healthy food choices melted 50 pounds from my body. At this point, I am in better shape than 10 years ago. My energy level and stamina have improved greatly. My health has turned around.

It is easy to identify healthy weight loss food. Foods that come straight from nature are the key to good health. If you eliminate processed junk foods and refined white foods, the weight will dissolve – no ifs, ands, or big butts!

Can a Diet High in Meat Help You Burn Fat?

The growing trend to follow in faddy diets is eating plenty of protein and less carbohydrate, for example, the Atkins diet. It is suggested that protein is best at burning fat in the body and therefore increased amounts of meat should be incorporated into your diet as meat is an excellent source of protein. But how beneficial is this approach to losing weight?

The reality is worlds away from what these fad diets such as the Atkins diet promote. In uncomplicated terms, dieters will rapidly lose weight if they burn more calories than they consume regardless of how much protein they have eaten. A great way to stimulate your body to burn calories is to engage in regular strength training exercise.

Another point to consider is that not all meat is good for your health. Red meats such as bacon, pepperoni, ham and salami are high in fat and calories and therefore should be avoided when dieting. This also applies to fried meat such as chicken and fish. Do you really think you will achieve rapid weight loss by eating more meat and adding extra calories to your diet.. I think not! Instead you will be escalating your body fat which will make it harder for you to lose weight, suggesting further that increased protein in the form of meat is not the optimal option when you’re trying to burn fat.

Also, to gain the full protein benefits of meat the cooking process must be considered. To ensure you do not lose any nutrients or add unwanted fat to the meat avoid roasting, frying or prolonged cooking. Instead opt for grilling or boiling.

If you are convinced that a high-calorie diet will assist you personally to lose weight then remember that the source of the protein doesn’t always have to come from meat. Nuts, seeds and pulses are all great sources of protein and contain less fat then meat. In my opinion, a great alternative fast weight loss diet is the cabbage soup diet. While it’s still not recommended for long-term use, I think it’s far more effective and healthier than high protein diets such as the Atkins diet.

The main thing to remember is that the best way to burn fat is to have a well balanced diet and incorporate habitual exercise into your routine. Leading a healthy lifestyle is far better for shaping up then relying on fad diets.
